Location
St Nicholas C of E Primary School is located on Church Green in Harpenden, right in the heart of Harpenden High Street.
Just a 30-minute train ride into London on the Thameslink line has made our leafy, Hertfordshire town a popular place for many families to settle. The train station is a quick walk away from school, ideal for commuting parents, who also have an excellent Breakfast and After-School Club at St Nicholas to help support their working hours. The M1, M25, A1 and Luton Airport are also very close by.
In 2021, a brand new Leisure Centre and Theatre were built on the beautiful park in the centre of town, along with a large new playground. We’re fortunate enough to be located very close to this amazing new facility and all year groups have the opportunity to use the Swimming Pool as well as the playing fields for PE, Sports Day and After-School Sports Clubs.
In our own playground, The Garden provides a lovely shady spot for children’s sensory and imaginative play. We also have a dedicated Reception and Year 1 playground and sports coaches provide organised games each lunch time in the main playground for older children.
Our position in the centre of the Harpenden community and town is a privileged one. The children proudly represent our school at many of the community and Church events, from Harvest Festival and Remembrance Day services to Christmas processions and District Schools events in Music and Sports.
Our central location makes it easy for new families to integrate into Harpenden life, with coffee shops and local facilities right on our doorstep. Our active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is open to all new families and regularly hosts coffee mornings, children’s events and social drinks to keep the St Nicholas community connected.
