Our Christian Ethos
What it means to be at our Church of England school
Our Christian values run through our everyday school life and learning, helping to guide all of our pupils on their own spiritual, moral, social and cultural journey. We welcome families of all religious faith or no faith and encourage pupils to reflect on their own beliefs and values as well as the differing beliefs of others.
RE
In RE lessons we embrace the teachings and practices of all principal religions represented in Britain today, helping to ensure our school is a happy place where everyone is valued. It’s a place where every child can thrive and reach their full potential, living out our Christian values of hope, kindness, responsibility and perseverance and celebrating the uniqueness of every individual.
St Nicholas Church
We first opened as a Church of England school in 1865 and maintain the close link with St Nicholas Church today. The Church Reverend is an active member of our Governing Board and pupils regularly attend Church services, half-termly in Reception moving to once a week from Year 3.
Celebrations
Pupils thoroughly enjoy our seasonal celebrations from the Christian festivities of Christmas, Easter and Harvest to joining with families from our school community in celebrating different religious and cultural events such as Chinese New Year and Diwali.
Families and carers are always welcome at all of our Church services, details of which are included in our weekly school newsletter.
