Our Intent for Design and Technology

Design and technology is a practical subject providing opportunities for all children to design and make good quality products.  Our aims are to develop designing and making skills, knowledge and understanding to the best of each child’s ability through using a range of tools, materials and components safely and to enhance their work by the use of ICT within the subject.  Design and technology involves children in developing an understanding of the ways in which products have been designed in the past and present to meet the needs of people.  Within design technology, we want to see children develop and extend their literacy and numeracy skills.

Enrichment Opportunities

Teachers incorporate workshops and trips to provide learning in a 'real life' context. These include: K'nex design workshops, STEM bridge building challenges, Setpoint computer-aided design projects and visiting the Silverstone design centre.
